WATCHES & WONDERS 2024: NEWS FROM REPLICA PANERAI
On the occasion of the 2024 edition of Watches & Wonders, the largest watchmaking fair and indirectly heir to the Basel fair, we went to meet Replica Panerai. In a decor featuring the large sails of its ship Eilean, the Italian brand is focusing this year on the Radiomir. On the menu: new proportions, a new material, but also a new complication.
Panerai Radiomir Quaranta Goldtech
Panerai has significantly reduced the size of its cases in recent years. The 47mm are becoming increasingly rare and, after having recently been introduced into the Luminor collection, the 40mm is joining the Radiomir family. But the most important thing about its new proportions is that this reduced diameter is associated with a thickness of 10.15mm, which constitutes a record for Panerai. Unveiled in eSteel at the start of the year, the Radiomir Quaranta is now adorned with a more precious Goldtech case. It is in fact a pink gold specific to the Italian brand and whose alloy includes platinum and copper, allowing it to offer a redder tint. Fully polished, it is here associated with a white dial with a magnificent brushed sunburst finish.
Panerai Radiomir Annual Calendar
Panerai here marks the arrival of a new complication in its catalog, and not just any complication. The Radiomir collection has the honor of hosting the brand’s very first annual calendar. Thanks to the P.9010/AC caliber, the latter displays the small seconds in a sub-counter at 9 o’clock, the day and date in a double window at 3 o’clock and the month using a rotating disc on the perimeter of the dial.
Panerai Radiomir Otto Giorni
The PAM01347 and PAM01348 are a direct evolution of the PAM00992, already in the collection. They all share the same 45mm diameter cushion case displaying 10 bars of resistance, the P.5000 movement offering 8 days of power reserve thanks to a double barrel, and a dial indicating the small seconds at 9 o’clock then the words “8 Giorni Brevattato” at 6 a.m. What changes for this new diptych is the material used to create the cases: Brunito eSteel. Made from 95% recycled steel scrap, it sports a worn finish that works wonderfully on these pieces.
Panerai Radiomir California
We decided to save the best for last, with the Radiomir California. And if you know Panerai well, you are normally aware of the importance of the California dial in the history of the brand. It is adorned here with a 45mm diameter envelope in Brunito eSteel, the new material unveiled this year by the brand.
