Rolls Royce La Rose Noire Droptail and the unique Replica Audemars Piguet Concept Watch
Rolls Royce presents a unique example of the Droptail model. The custom-built car has a special copy of the Replica Audemars Piguet concept watch on board.
Cars built to individual, fully personalized order are even rarer in today’s world of luxury than personalized watches. While the latter can be ordered, for example, from many independent watchmakers, modifying many important elements, in the automotive industry the matter is not so simple. Coachbuilding, i.e. the completely custom creation of car bodies, was once synonymous with luxury, and today it is an exotic whim of the richest. Whimsy may not be the best word, because the cars created in this way are true works of art. One of the few that still offers the opportunity to create a completely unique car is Rolls Royce. The British brand, currently part of the BMW group, has just presented the latest Rolls Royce Coachbuild creation – a droptail model built to individual order (we don’t know who) in Black Baccara rose colors. The car was officially shown during Monterey Car Week in California.

A lot could be written about the details of the new RR, which is largely a car built from scratch, at the exact request of the ordering family. The entire car was painted with two colors of paint: the lighter “True Love” and the darker “Mystery”, additionally covered with several layers of colorless varnish of various transparency. The two-seater car has a sliding, soft roof with a low profile and a V-12 engine with a capacity of 6.7 liters and 593 horsepower under the hood.
The dashboard is an intricately hand-assembled composition of 1,603 wooden elements depicting freely falling rose petals. This is where there is a special compartment with a hidden clock.
Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept
The customer wanted an equally unique watch to go with the ordered car. It was built by the Le Brassus factory, based on the Royal Oak Concept Split-Seconds Chronograph GMT Large Date model. The titanium-wrapped watch with a characteristic, irregular shape is 43 mm in diameter and 17.4 mm thick. It is powered by the automatic caliber 4407, featuring a Split-Seconds chronograph complication and large date and time displays in the second zone.
The personalized model was matched to the car’s design with red accents on the skeletonized dial. According to the customer’s order, the timepiece can be mounted in the dashboard or worn on the wrist. In the first option, it is hidden under an automatically extending boom, which, after pressing a button, extends the watch so that it becomes a full-fledged on-board clock. However, you can remove it from the cockpit at any time and put it on your hand using the included rubber strap. The mounting in the board is then closed with a metal door with a lid with an engraved rose.
The Rolls Royce La Rose Noire Droptail reportedly cost its owner approximately USD 30,000,000 (~PLN 122,700,000). The price includes a watch and a special champagne set. The box opens automatically and, in addition to hand-blown crystal glasses, there is a bottle of vintage Champagne de Lossy, in an aluminum cooler, of course.
