Replica Patek Philippe Nautilus 5811: The Heir to the Iconic 5711
Last year the announcement of the 5711 leak created a catastrophe: people became desperate, second-hand prices improbably skyrocketed.
Replica Patek Philippe has just announced the new Nautilus 5811, successor to the most desired luxury steel sports watch that Thierry Stern, owner of the Maison, swore we would never see again. At 41 mm, 1 mm more than the 5711, its case is in white gold and its extended reference is the 5811/1G.
The one just mentioned is the biggest difference, which is not visible to the naked eye. Looking at the images, given the identical look of the white gold with the steel, apart from the dial of the 5811 with a black shaded blue soleil dial which takes up the shade of the original Nautilus, it does not seem very different from the latest 5711.
New Nautilus 5811/1G
It is the evolution of Gerald Genta’s legendary design which in 1976 materialized in the Nautilus Ref. 3700, followed by the Ref.5711 which, presented in 2006 on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the model, went out of production in 2021.
To justify the inclusion of the Nautilus 5811 in the catalog there are some small differences compared to its predecessor, but they are not much.
We have already talked about the 41 mm diameter. Previously the case was made in three parts, now it has become two. It seems that Patek took inspiration from the historic 3700, also equipped with a two-part monobloc case considered “jumbo” – and with its 42 mm even larger than the 5811.
With this case, the caseback cannot be opened and the movement is accessible from the dial side. Another noteworthy update is the new tightening adjustment system of the white gold bracelet with folding clasp.
Nothing new for the self-winding caliber 26-330 S C with stop seconds. Apart from a new pull mechanism (patent pending) which allows the winding shaft to be extracted from the dial side; this device replaces the previous “tige brisée” system.
Opinions
It seemed too strange to have to completely give up the image that the whole world has of Patek Philippe. In manufacturing, by switching to a new version in white gold, they found a way to save the day (goal of abandoning the steel and invoiced Nautilus).
In a period in which the trend in watchmaking is to create smaller timepieces, in Geneva they “copy” from the latest Submariner of their fellow citizen Rolex, which was also exceptionally increased by 1 mm two years ago. But mine is not a criticism. Since the Nautilus is a sports watch it can fit.
At 70,350 Euros the list price of the Nautilus 5811 has more than doubled compared to the last 5711, but we all know that when it comes to Patek and Rolex the recommended price is purely indicative.
We therefore welcome the new object of desire for many.
