FAKE OMEGA puts the spotlight on Buzz Aldrin for the anniversary of the moon landing
On the occasion of the anniversary of the first moon landing, Buzz Aldrin spent some time with Fake Omega reflecting on those hours and on the Speedmaster, the watch that on 21 July 1969 wrote a page of history.
The astronaut was piloting the Apollo 11 lunar module when it landed on the Sea of Tranquility exactly 53 years ago. Those first steps represent a considerable milestone for humanity and also for the Omega Speedmaster Professional on his wrist, which at that time became the first watch worn on the moon.
Recalling the images of that famous day, Fake Omega also snapped a new portrait of Buzz Aldrin (top) wearing the Speedmaster 321 (ref. 311.30.40.30.01.001), powered by the legendary caliber that powered all the Speedmasters worn on the Moon.
From Apollo 11 directly to Apollo 17, astronauts relied on Caliber 321 for its accuracy and reliability.
The Apollo 11 mission remains the culminating moment in Omega’s long space legacy. It is an honor for the Swiss Maison to be able to commemorate that history today and celebrate Buzz Aldrin’s brilliant achievements.
