Without a doubt, Replica IWC‘s Pilot’s Watch collection is the most popular and is the one in which the brand has invested the most in recent years, recently enriched with the splendid IWC Big Pilot’s Watch 43, the most multifaceted among aviator watches thanks to its small size and possibility to quickly change the bracelet.
2024 officially opens with two interesting product innovations: IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Lake Tahoe and IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Woodland Green. To this article, we will progressively add the IWC innovations revealed at the opening of the fair, of which we give a live preview with the two launch models. In both cases, these are variations on the IWC Top Gun Chronograph theme which has already been expressed in various forms, the latest of which was the “Blue Angels” edition presented at the end of 2021.
IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Lake Tahoe
The Pilot’s Watch Chronograph appears for the second time with a white ceramic case. The first version, however, was not of a commercial nature; a set of IWC Pilot’s Chronograph White was awarded to members of the Mission to Orbit mission, and titled Edition “Inspiration 4”. The Lake Tahoe version is therefore the first normal production variant of the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph with a white ceramic case and, as per the DNA of the collection, it has clear military inspiration and rightfully falls within the Top Gun collection.
Tahoe is the name of a large freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada mountains on the border between California and Nevada and is near Naval Air Station Fallon, where the Top Gun school resides. It is the training venue for top-class pilots of the US Navy, whose white uniform inspired the white color of the ceramic of the case. The buttons and crown are made of steel like the case back, while the strap is made of very soft white rubber with a deployant clasp.
IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Woodland Green
The new Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Woodland Green is even more sophisticated, in which both the case and the dial are in matt and rather dark green ceramic while the chrono buttons, crown and case back are in Ceratanium®, the titanium and ceramic-based compound developed exclusively by IWC.
Of even stronger military inspiration than the previous one, the Woodland Green features a pin buckle instead of the deployant present on the Tahoe. The point of excellence of all Pilot’s Watches is the exceptional luminescence in the dark. Both share the same technical architecture.
Technical features
Lake Tahoe and Woodland Green have a case with a diameter of 44.5 mm and a thickness of 15.7 mm, inside which is mounted the 4Hz manufacture caliber 69380 and 46 hours of autonomy on a full charge.
It is a chronograph with sorting of the chrono function via column wheel, and is mounted inside an additional soft iron case to protect it from the influence of magnetic fields. Both models will be produced in batches of one thousand units each, per year with the following prices: €10,100 for Lake Tahoe and €11,100 for Woodland Green.
