Fake Patek Philippe Nautilus in portrait
The Fake Patek Philippe Nautilus is one of the most sought-after watches in the world. When it was announced at the end of 2021 that reference 5711 – the coveted stainless steel version – was being discontinued, prices continued to explode. Now the new Nautilus is here: The watch with the model name 5811/1G looks very similar to the 5711, but is made of white gold instead of stainless steel and offers some innovations.
How did the Patek Philippe Nautilus come about?
In its origins, Patek Philippe was primarily known for classically elegant gold timepieces such as the Calatrava. In the mid-1970s, however, it was decided to produce a luxury sports watch and brought Gérald Genta on board, who had already designed the Royal Oak by Audemars Piguet.
At least concessionaires and watch lovers were not particularly enthusiastic at first. In their eyes, a stainless steel timepiece was by no means luxurious and the price for this watch was disproportionately high – the watch cost as much as a small car. The case of the Patek Philippe Nautilus was also above average for the time with its opulent diameter of 42 millimeters.
Name and design of the Nautilus
A special characteristic of all Nautilus models is the case in the shape of a porthole. Gérald Genta was inspired by Jules Verne’s novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, which is about Captain Nemo and his submarine Nautilus – and this is where the name of the luxury timepiece comes from.
It wasn’t until almost twenty years later that the Nautilus also conquered the hearts of men. Anyone who bought a Patek Philippe Nautilus back then was very lucky, because today it is worth many times more.

The anniversary editions were the 40 millimeter version 5711/1P made of platinum and the reference 5976/1G, a particularly large version of the flyback chronograph with a diameter of 44 millimeters made of white gold, powered by the in-house caliber CH 28-520 C. The dials of both models featured baguette diamonds and the anniversary number. Although these models were criticized by fans as being too ostentatious, they sold out as quickly as they were released.
A special feature of this model is the flat manufacture caliber 240 Q with a diameter of 40 millimeters (Read more: The 5 most expensive complications in luxury watches).
Patek Philippe Nautilus Final Edition: The end of the Nautilus reference 5711
In January 2021, the watch world was shaken when Thierry Stern, President of Patek Philippe, announced that the Nautilus reference 5711 would be discontinued. This is the particularly popular stainless steel version, one of the most sought-after luxury watches ever.
